About the Author
;

Lance Walheim has been gardening most of his life. He got his start when his father forced him to turn the soil and plant tomatoes in the family vegetable garden as punishment for a deed he can't recall. Funny thing was, he found that he enjoyed working in the soil and has been doing it ever since. In 1975, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in botany. Shortly after, he started writing and researching books on gardening and since has written or contributed to more than 40 gardening books on subject ranging from citrus to roses (including Roses For Dummies®). He has also written extensively about lawns and lawn care -- check out his book, Lawn Care For Dummies®. He also has served as a writer for Sunset and National Gardening magazines and is part owner of California Citrus Specialties, marketers of specialty citrus fruit. But his true loves are family and gardening, the "composts" that enrich his heart and soul.

This book's definitely a keeper for rose growers5
I have almost 40 rose books in my collection and I've read them all cover to cover, some many times. I didn't expect what I got from this book - new information that that wasn't included in weighty books for serious rose growers. This book demystifies the culture of roses, gives good advice in an easily read style. Its a great read and a painless way to learn enough to go right into rose growing - whether its just a couple of roses or major rose beds!

Great. Clear, informative and useful.5
Obviously written by an expert, this book lets you zero in on exactly the information you want, or read page-by-page for a constantly interesting flow of information. A great section of tables help you narrow down your selection to fit your region and and amount of effort you feel like putting in. Makes you feel that you, too, can grow your own beautiful rose bushes!

I'm no Dummy, anymore....5
I've been growing roses for a few years and my mother and grandmother are avid rose gardeners. I thought I knew a fair amount on the subject, but I learned SO MUCH from this book. Great for the beginner and experienced rose grower. And the photos are beautiful (would have liked more). This book can make anyone feel comfortable growing roses and will help ensure their success!
